We at Kurashu are huge fans of all sorts of citrus sake. They are a great balance of tart and sweet and make a great aperitif. Enjoy chilled, on the rocks, or with a splash of soda water.
This particular sake is made with jabara citrus, grown in Wakayamaโs Kitayama village. These citruses are marked by a wild flavor, and are steeped in sake to create a well-balanced and exciting drink.

Tasting Notes
With fresh sake as a base, this citrus sake (yuzushu) comes across as very lively and strongly sour, while retaining a pleasant mellowness. Reminiscent of citrus lemonade and perfect in the summer over ice or as a refreshing aperitif.

Wakayama's Fruit
Wakayama's fruit are so famous within Japan that the area is known as the 'Fruit Kingdom'. Fittingly, Umeshu (Japanese plum wine) from Wakayama is the only one fitted with a GI (protected geographical indication) from the Japanese government. But citrus fruit from the area are just as famous and include many varieties that are not available abroad. These fruit sakes are radically different from western liquers, which are often sickly sweet. Japanese fruit sake are fresh, lively and well balanced. They are superb on the rocks on a warm summer day and delicious with soda as an aperitif.
